Study on 6G Radio RAN4 aspects

RF and RRM requirements — and the thinnest document of the four. The lowest version number paired with an old upload date is not a document that banked its decisions; it is one that has not started, because its inputs do not exist. You cannot write a coexistence requirement for a waveform whose bandwidth is under study, or a band requirement for a band nobody has been given.

No band or frequency range on this page is a 3GPP band. There are no 3GPP 6G bands and cannot be until Release 21. Candidate ranges belong to regulators, vendors or journals.

Where it stands

Agenda items allocated
RAN4#120's drafts folder shows 19 folders across 14 numbered 6G agenda items: system parameters (101), general and UE RF (102), spectrum (104), RRM (105), AI (107), spectrum sharing (108), operation efficiency (111), demodulation (210, 211), testability OTA (213), BS RF requirements and coexistence (360, 361), sensing coexistence and feasibility (362, 363).
Coexistence is the frame
Ericsson: the baseline 6G design assumes standalone deployment without 5G–6G aggregation, but "a carrier can be dynamically shared between 5G and 6G" — MRSS — with study aimed at significantly reduced overhead compared to 4G/5G sharing.
Operators want evidence
Operators asked for preliminary MRSS performance evaluation results by September 2026, to determine whether "the overhead of running both simultaneously is too high and inefficient".
Spectrum sharing has its own agenda item
Item 108, distinct from spectrum itself at 104.
